This Election Day, Cayuga County voters will have the chance to choose a judge for a newly created Family Court seat, a position created earlier this year by the New York State Legislature. The role is for a 10-year term, and the candidates Stephen Bushman, ESQ (R & C) and the Hon. Christine Garland (D) is running for the post.
In keeping with the tradition of judicial contests, candidates are given a platform to present themselves to voters without facing questions. Both Bushman and Garland will have up to five minutes each to present their experience and vision for the court, providing insight for voters as they consider this a significant addition to the county’s court system. The webcast was streamed by the Cayuga Community College Media Department and hosted by Guy Cosentino at Inside Government.
The new Family Court judge will play a vital role in handling cases affecting families and children in the region, highlighting the importance of this selection.
