California – A powerful winter storm continued to pound parts of California on Sunday, bringing heavy snow, strong winds and hazardous travel conditions. Areas above 3,000 feet are expected to see significant snowfall Monday, with accumulations reaching two feet in some mountain areas.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the San Gabriel and San Bernardino Mountains until 4:00 p.m. On Monday. Snow levels are forecast to drop to 3,000 feet tonight with wind gusts reaching 50 mph. The hardest-hit areas, including Big Bear Lake and Wrightwood, could receive up to 24 inches of snow, while Interstate 5 around the Vineyard could see light snow accumulation, creating hazardous driving conditions.

Travelers are advised to avoid unnecessary travel. Those who must travel should carry emergency supplies, including flashlights, food and water. Motorists are urged to check local road conditions by calling 511. Slick roads and reduced visibility can make travel hazardous, especially during the Monday morning commute.

Looking ahead, the snow and wind will continue on Monday, with calmer weather returning on Tuesday. However, temperatures will remain low throughout the week, with highs in the 40s in the highlands. Residents should monitor weather updates and prepare for continued outages in affected regions.
