BATON ROUGE — Brian Kelly opened his lone media availability during LSU football’s off week Tuesday afternoon after the team’s practice, saying he wouldn’t share much about the team’s health status.
“You’re not going to get much from me on injuries this week,” Kelly said with a smile.
Although Kelly has been informative about his players’ injuries since he arrived at LSU three years ago, this season is the first in which the Southeastern Conference has mandated a “player availability” report for conference games. Teams must list players as “probable,” “questionable” or “out” in their reports to the league, which then publishes the list beginning the Wednesday of the week of the game.
No. 13 LSU (4-1) doesn’t play this week, but is dealing with its fair share of ailments to key players a little more than a week after meeting No. 11 Ole Miss (4-1) at Tiger Stadium next Saturday night (6:30 p.m., ABC).

WHERE LSU NEEDS TO IMPROVE AGAINST OLE MISS Where there is cause for concern for LSU football as a big matchup with Ole Miss awaits
Caden Durham injury update
Freshman Kaden Durham is one of the leading injuries on the team. Durham scored two touchdowns in the win against South Alabama and finished the game with 217 total yards of offense.
On the second TD he scored, the lineman fell on him and he suffered a toe injury that sat out the rest of the game as the Tigers were big on the Jaguars.
Asked if the running back’s injury affects his status for next week’s game at Ole Miss, Kelly said it’s too early to tell.
“Our injuries are an issue, but we think we’ll have our guys for Ole Miss,” Kelly said. “We have two weeks here. We won’t go into an injury report or say who will be probable and doubtful. We have some guys that have been hit, but we expect them to be ready for Ole Miss.”
CJ Daniels injury update
Senior wide receiver CJ Daniels’ knee injury isn’t as serious as the LSU staff feared. Daniels has been delayed this week after re-aggravating an old injury.
“He aggravated an old knee injury. But we have good reports on that,” Kelly said. “We were concerned because he had an ACL (before), but this wasn’t an ACL. These are things that you are initially concerned about. But it turned out to be the best scenario for us.”
