ETTRICK, VA. — On the first day of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round II, the Bowie State women’s volleyball team defeated Claffin (2-13, 2-10 CIAA) in three sets 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25- 20) Saturday night at the VSU Multipurpose Center.
The conference win improved BSU’s record to 7-15 overall and 4-6 in the CIAA, while CU falls to 2-13 overall and 2-10 in the league.
Nicole Taylor finished with eight kills on the day to lead the Bulldogs offense while finishing with a .333 hitting percentage. Defensively, the Bulldogs had three players reach double figures, incl To Taylor Johnson 11, 10 by Reece Culver and 10 more by Shaska Davis.

How it happened
SET 1 | The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead, easily winning the first set 25-15. Bowie State never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 12-11 in a set that featured three lead changes before the Bulldogs took over.
SET 2 | BSU won the second set 25-17 to take a quick 2-0 lead. The Bulldogs never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 7-6 in a set that saw just one lead change before Bowie State took over.
SET 3 | Bowie State took the third set to end the match 3-0. Bulldogs set three 25-20. BSU trailed by as many as six points but took the lead for good at 20-19 in a set that featured four lead changes before the Bulldogs took over in the second half of the stanza.
