Merrill, wis. (WSAW) – The Ministry of Government Efficiency (DOG) did not take time to transform the entire workforce of the federal government in just one month since President Trump took office.
Thousands of people were fired as the administration and the Dodge told agencies leaders to plan “large -scale reductions of power” and freeze trillions of dollars in federal grants.
Among the abbreviations is a small, less than 400 square foot facility in Meryl, used by the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA).
The head of public issues of the Agency Mark Woodbury tells the Newschannel 7 that the building and the staff were used to ensure the quality and supervision of the contracts that DCMA manages.
Woodbury adds that jobs have not been shortened and workers have been moved to other facilities.
Woodbury says DCMA leaves the building leasing to expire, referring to budget restrictions and decreasing as factors.
The Meryl building is not the only government building or entity in Wisconsin that sees impact. Others listed on the Doge website include the Ministry of Defense building (7,322 square foot) in Milwaukee, a Social Security Administration (976 square foot) in Green Bay and a fish and wildlife service in the United States ( 2 871 sq. Ft.) In Madison.
Doge lists the general savings of each facility of:
- Merrill: $ 6,067
- Madison: $ 290 709 (58,142 years of leasing)
- Milwaukee: $ 933,500 (assuming leasing has been extended for five years; $ 186,700 annual leasing costs)
- Green Bay: $ 131,145 (assuming leasing has been extended for five years; $ 2629 annual leasing costs)
The owner of the Green Bay building, Doug Buck, told our Wbay branch that the Social Security Administration had rented the building on Dousman Street for more than 20 years.
The administration renewed its lease agreement only nine months ago.
Buck said he was surprised in unbelief when he heard the news.
“This property serves as a need in the community. There are many people in this country who rely on their social security security for their survival. This is a decisive government service. So it is difficult for me to see this building soon, “Buck said.
Buck said he was confused why the building was on the Dodge list and was waiting for answers to be given. He noted that the Dog list shows a slight reduction in square footage and notes that it is confusing.

The website is last updated on February 17 and stated that “once or twice a week” will be updated, with a possibility being to have real -time updates.
