Rookie safety Tyky Smith will return to action after missing one game with a concussion as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers face the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night, and his veteran teammate, Antoine Winfield Jr., will miss time with an injury to legs.
While the Buccaneers’ secondary received some good news Monday night, the team’s receiving corps continues to be hit hard by injuries. Mike Evans will miss his second straight game with a hamstring injury suffered in Week 7 against Baltimore, and Chris Godwin is now on injured reserve. Rookie Jared McMillan was also inactive Monday night after aggravating his injury late in the practice week.
Rookie Bucky Irving and veteran wide receiver Sterling Shepard were also listed as questionable on Saturday’s injury report, but both are active for Monday’s game.
The Buccaneers and Chiefs submitted their inactive lists at 6:45 p.m. ET Monday, 90 minutes before the scheduled start of the Week 9 game at Arrowhead Stadium. After elevating wide receiver Marques Callaway and linebacker Vi Jones from the practice squad earlier in the afternoon, the Buccaneers had 55 players available and thus had to name seven inactives to reach the 48 game day limit.
