The new roles will be based on BT Group sites, including Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Darlington, Ipswich, Leeds, London, Manchester, Sheffield and Warrington.

BT Group has appointed more than 3,000 apprentices and has completed in the last five years.

Atali Williams, a chief human resource employee at BT Group, said: “I am amazing at the opportunities we provide to develop a new talent on BT Group and to admit the valuable graduates and the apprentices who bring the workforce.

“Last year alone, we hired about 500 apprentices and graduates, all eager to learn, develop their skills and help provide a better experience for our customers.”

Last year, BT launched a new apprenticeship fund aimed at supporting smaller companies, charity organizations and public sector organizations in England, which have access to £ 4 million funding for an original four-year period.

Jacques Smith, Minister of Skills, said: “The apprentice is central to the plan of this government for change – they break the barriers over opportunities and equip people of all ages and origin with the skills that must continue to reward their careers.

“They also stimulate growth by providing businesses with the workforce they need in key sectors of the economy.

“It’s great to see BT Group, one of our 100th best apprentice employers, supporting this mission, gaining more than 600 apprentices and university graduates.

“Their engagement shows that true impact can have for both individuals and business, which is pushing our economy forward.

“We are fully committed to expanding opportunities even more.

“Through our reforms, including the introduction of skills in England and our new growth and skills proposal, we will guarantee that even more apprentices will join the talent pipeline that will stimulate growth and power our mission -governed government. “
