Wilmington, NC (Wect) – You can carry alcoholic beverages from business to business in the Brooklyn Arts area tomorrow.
This is part of the new Wilmington Downtown Incorporated pilot program. On February 1, people will be able to carry alcoholic beverages in the area from noon to 5:00 pm. One of those business included in the program is Dalisay Hair Salon.
“We have been here for eight years, coming this April,” said hairdresser Tyler Kent.
She says that when they first heard about the pilot program, they couldn’t wait to be part of it.
“I think many people have a strange idea for the 4th street, that there are not many things to do, it’s not a safe place,” Kent said. “So, I think it will bring a lot of new business here and some foot traffic.”
The pilot program will currently operate on February 1, 8 and 15.
“We really think it will be a fun time for all our guests to drink from somewhere and bring it here, since we obviously do not have such an ability here,” Kent said.
Other participating companies include the cafe in Brooklyn, the kitchen sink and goat and the compass. The rules allow people to buy up to two drinks for beer or wine or one alcoholic beverage at a restaurant.
“We like to drink from time to time, so I think our customers should be allowed and if I don’t have to do it, it’s even better,” Kent said.
Drinks will be served in 16 ounces. Certain cups for social areas with a logo at the Brooklyn Arts area.
“I think many people will come,” Kent said.
The more people, the greater the chance you can stick.
“I hope this is a program that remains,” Kent said.
According to Wilmington Downtown, Inc, the area starts at Flyrap Brewing and ends at Pizzeria Don Luca.
There will be signs so that people can follow and remain within the social area.
Parking will be available in the Skyline Center parking lot. Parking on the street will also be available.
