Broncos projected to land star wide receiver for million from Seahawks at NFL trade deadline – Sports News

The 2024 NFL trade deadline is just days away, which means we’ve entered the height of trade offer season. For the most part, the Seattle Seahawks remain out of the trade speculation game, as are the rest of the teams hovering around .500 midway through the season.

Although the Seahawks have been aggressively adding players in trades over the past few weeks, most of the mentions of Seattle entering the deadline have been about sending one of their best wide receivers to an AFC team.

A CBS Sports writer thinks the Seahawks may trade Tyler Lockett to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and a new piece we just found from Matt Shovelson at TWSN suggests Seattle will deal star wide receiver DK Metcalf to the Denver Broncos at the deadline for trade.

DK Metcalf’s TWSN to the Broncos

“DK has over 900 yards in each of his first five NFL seasons and is an instant game changer. Dk is only 26 but plays like a veteran and could help the receiving core as a whole get better as almost everyone on the Broncos receiving core besides Cortland, Sutton is 26 or younger of what Bo Nix needs to break out and turn this offense around, so the Broncos need to make that happen.

Why the Seahawks won’t trade DK Metcalf

As is the case with almost every DK Metcalf trade offer we’ve seen over the past few years, it makes a lot of sense for the other team, but not so much for the Seahawks. Even if they consider Metcalf to have peaked in 2021, when he recorded just under 1,000 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns (while playing with a broken leg, mind you), it’s hard to justify sending him to another team, as considering what they would likely get in return.

At 5-3, Denver’s season could still fall short either way, but the addition of Metcalf will certainly help Bo Nix and company get over the hump in a crowded AFC West. At best, the Seahawks will likely get a mid-first-round pick from the Broncos in return, and possibly even lower if Metcalf helps them out of the stretch (which he would). Denver could add a third- or fourth-round pick to sweeten the deal, but whatever the Seahawks get from those picks is unlikely to even come close to the value the Broncos would get in Metcalf.
