Dear Irving on Broadway, the third outpost of Yves Jadot Restaurant Group’s (YJRG) cocktail lounge, has made its debut in Manhattan’s Theater District.
Inspiration for Dear Irving on Broadway
Brought to life by Delphine Mauriot, founder of design firm DMDesign, and Chris Bidmead, founder of consultancy Bar Methods, the space harks back to “the 1930s after the Great Depression, a time when people relied on entertainment as a form of escapism from reality’. says YJRG managing partner Yves Jadeau.
“Plans for our third location were in development before the pandemic, and we feel out of time to bring this concept to life after another collective hardship,” he continues.
Drawing influences from Guillermo del Toro Nightmare Alley and epic drama Babylon (starring Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie), Broadway’s Dear Irving combines sleek, polished elements with rich colors. Dramatic curtains, velvet upholstery and playful wallpaper patterns lend a sense of theater to the space, while mirrored surfaces and iridescent ceilings add a touch of opulence.
Behind the curtain
Guests enter the lounge on the fifth floor via a glass elevator. Here, black marble floors and brown banquettes create an intimate yet gorgeous atmosphere. At the heart of the space is a sumptuous rectangular bar adorned with marble tops, a hanging bottle rack and a golden chandelier.
Beyond the Bar, a floor-to-ceiling mural by Adeline Jadeau, titled Cirque du Freak-A-Leek adds whimsy and vibrancy, emphasizing the grandeur of the Broadway-inspired establishment.
Meanwhile, the back hallway hosts a series of classic cocktail vignettes built into a millinery bookcase, paying homage to Dear Irving’s popular recipes of the past decade.
The outdoor terrace
In contrast, the outdoor pergola bar offers a more subdued atmosphere, with soft armchairs, large orange sofas and a leafy terrace providing ‘theatrical views’ of the neighbourhood.
“Ten years after opening our original location in Gramercy and nearly six years after our first expansion, we look forward to bringing the Dear Irving experience to even more people while maintaining the brand’s signature creativity and exceptional service in a new setting,” adds Jadot .
