BATON ROUGE, LA — Dr. Brian Irving has been selected to join the inaugural cohort of Louisiana Board of Regents Meauxmentum Fellows. Irving is one of 100 faculty members selected from across the state to participate in this program because of their commitment to excellence and student success in the classroom.
“It is a great honor to be selected as one of 100 faculty members in the inaugural cohort of the Louisiana Council Meauxmentum Scholars Program,” Irving said. “As one of only four scholars selected from LSU, I am excited to collaborate with colleagues from across the state in our shared commitment to educational excellence and student success. I look forward to contributing to this important initiative to improve student outcomes and address equity gaps in Louisiana.”
Meauxmentum Scholars aim to improve student success and fill equity gaps in higher education in Louisiana. The Louisiana Meauxmentum Summit invited leadership from all 28 public institutions of higher education in the state to discuss how the Momentum approach can be incorporated on their campuses to ultimately achieve the goals of the state’s higher education master plan, Louisiana Prospers .
“Dr. Irving’s appointment to the inaugural cohort of the Meauxmentum program is only a reward for his outstanding achievements in serving our students at all levels,” said LSU School of Kinesiology Director John Noright, Ph.D. “It is one of the best anywhere in both research and the development of student opportunities. The School of Kinesiology is fortunate to have world-leading professionals like Dr. Irving as we build our winning team in and for Louisiana and around the world.”
During his time in the cohort, Irving will participate in professional development events, participate in statewide initiatives to advance the Meauxmentum Framework, lead faculty learning communities at LSU, and contribute to an edited publication.
