BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – The cause of a two-way fire overnight that displaced three people is under investigation.
The Baton Rouge Fire Department confirmed it happened around 12:45 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, on Myrtle Walk near Terrace Avenue.
No injuries were reported.
Firefighters who arrived at the scene found that a fire was burning under the house. Only one side of the complex was occupied and those residents fled before firefighters arrived.
Once inside, firefighters found the fire had spread to the walls and ceiling.
BRFD crews were able to contain the flames within an hour, but the duplex was deemed a total loss, officials said.
The Red Cross has been called to help displaced residents.
It is unclear how the fire started.
