Details: Jacob Elkin is based in New York virtuoso thrombonist who specializes in electronics, space, improvisation and microtonality. In addition to the music of his repertoire, he will present works by Alabama composers. The concert is supported by the Alabama State Council of Arts. The concert is free

Birmingham, but. – The Birmingham Public Library and Art Alliance of Art Music Music are proud to present a free concert by trombone Jacob Elkien. The concert is supported by the State Council of Arts in Alabana.

Michael Coleman’s Sliding Interest No. 6 is a series of graphic results for sliding instruments based on interest graphics. Like Monroe Golden, Meander, and “Dry and Reason, which we call science” by Holland Hopson, have computer processing live.

Golden’s track refers to the meanding path of the Cretan labyrinth and uses the natural harmonics of the thrombone. Hopson’s work is inspired by John Dowland’s hot songs in the English Renaissance. William Price’s lyrical and virtuoso “statements” for solo thrombone use different musical styles to outline the individual movements.

Jacob Elkin has participated in some of the most prestigious stages in the world, including Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Jazz in the Lincoln Center and Center of Kimel. He presented lectures at Mozarteum Salzburg University, London University and Center for Contemporary Art Seoul, South Korea.

Elkin has premiered new trombone works in ventricular settings with New York Composers Circle, Mimesis Ensemble, modern, Mise-En ensemble and New York Trombone Consort with David Tyler. He has premiered solo works for a trombone from Hubert How, Dari John Miesel, Monroe Golden, Joseph Person, Jin Han, Josh Oxford and many more.

Elkin has been written in many publications, including Broadway World, Operawire, New Music USA, I am interested in if you listen, classical music every day and avant -garde music news. His music is available on Waw and Ablaze Records and is played in the WKCR New York radio. He is at the Faculty of the United Nations International School of Organization.
