Bowling’s main event expects to raise $ 110 million for the local economy – WAFB

Baton Rouge, La. (WAFB) – A big bowling event returns to Baton Rouge for the first time in over 10 years. After a monthly renovation in the center of the Cane river in the center of the center, the finishing touches are completed.

“From March 1 to July 28. So, five months, we have about 58,000 bowling bowls that enter Baton Rouge, “said Senior Vice President of Marketing to visit Baton Rouge, Laura Caying.

The United States Bowling Congress has hosted tournaments just like the one for more than 100 years, with the last in Baton Ruzh in 2012.

Something about Baton Rouge brings the largest crowds for one of the biggest Bowling events.

“It’s quite incredible to see the turnout we have,” said the event manager Aaron Smith. “These will be the most teams we had since the last time we were here in Baton Rouge. So, I think this speaks a lot about what our bowling is thinking about this community and the ability to come here, compete and take everything. “

While 54 tapes and more than 54,000 Bowls are a pretty performance, Cating believes that the economic impact that the event will have on the city can be just as impressive.

“We are expecting about $ 110 million in an impact on these bowling,” Cating says. “And as they enter, they will spend that money here at the River Center, hotels, restaurants, a little from everywhere.”

The center, the hotels are preparing for the flow of visitors in the coming weeks and months. Mardi Grass is just around the corner with tens of thousands for this event.

Gary Jupiter has decades of experience in the stage of the Baton Rouge Hotel. He says the rooms are going fast.

“We are starting to see some early reservations for our visitors in March and April,” Jupiter said. “But the knowledge of this event will continue late in the spring and early summer, we are excited to show our city and be able to meet the bowlers all summer.”

The event will have several amenities for the participants and will also include over $ 7 million in prize money. A handful of events will be held in the coming weeks, including Cover Cancer – Mayor’s celebrity challenge, which is scheduled for February 29. The public is encouraged to stop after the official game begins in March.
