If you haven’t been following Boise State football closely over the past few weeks, you may not know that the team is heating up and slowly inching toward a top 10 program in the country. A win Saturday night could put the Broncos as a serious contender for the national championship.
Boise State’s win over San Diego State last week was the team’s sixth straight in front of another sellout home crowd. Boise State is currently 7-1 after losing its only game to Oregon (37-34) on September 7th. Last week’s win shot the program up to #12 in the AP Top 25 Poll.
If Boise State wins, they could be considered a serious threat to win the national championship for those who don’t believe they already are.
A major reason for the team’s run is the insane play of running back and Heisman Trophy favorite Ashton Janty. With four games remaining, Jeanty has already accumulated over 1,500 yards rushing, 20 touchdowns and is averaging 8 yards a rush. The play of sophomore quarterback Maddux Madsen also resulted in 1,789 passing yards, 17 touchdowns and just two interceptions, according to ESPN.
Boise State has games remaining against Nevada, San Jose State, Wyomingand their last game of the year at home vs State of Oregon on November 29. The team’s final regular season game will be nationally televised and will play a major role in the AP Poll rankings heading into the bowl season.
