Reno, Nev. – Things are starting to get interesting again with the Boise State men’s basketball team.
Who saw this came a month ago?
Javan Buchanan had 17 points and made the game of the game in the final seconds of defense to help Broncos to a massive win from 70-69 times in Nevada on Saturday.
Ever since the Rock Bottom, as coach Leon Rice described after a loss in Colorado, which removed Broncos to 13-7 as a whole and 5-4 in Mountain West Play, Broncos already dumped six wins in his last seven games to enhance up to 19-8 during the year and 11-5 in the league game.
And these last two were the most impressive. First, Bronco knocked the first place in New Mexico 86-78 at home Wednesday. After that Saturday at the Lawlor events center in Renault, they took a coveted Quad 1 victory by overcoming a 10 -point deficit in the first half and a 1 point deficit in the last minute.
“I’m just proud of my boys,” Rice said. “You have to pull some things and be mentally difficult on the road. … And we were quite difficult, we were quite resilient and made some big plays down. “
Suddenly, Broncos is crawling back to the largest NCAA tournament photo with four games, including a huge Utah match on Wednesday night at 8:30 at Extramile Arena.
Saturday was probably one of the biggest and most important victories of the Boise State season. And it came in an exciting way.
After Nevada took 66-65 lead of a bucket from Kobe Sanders (which ended with the highest games with 30 points) with 59 seconds, Broncos took the lead when Alvaro Cardans grabbed a free ball and scored 43.4 seconds to the left S
Bucanon then stole the Sanders ball with 13 seconds left, and Cardans found a meadow for dipping to put Broncos 69-66 with 7 seconds remaining.
Broncos seals the game of the free throws and climbed 70-66 before Wolf Pack made a pointless 3 in the zumer to make 70-69.
“It was great,” Bucanon said. “I loved how we got together. They returned and made a late impetus, but we struck together and received the victory. This is what makes the end so beautiful – when you stick and grind through it and do not go down. That’s how you win.
Meadow had 24 points to lead Broncos while Degenhart had 14. Carddas added eight points and nine assists to Broncos, who led 62-54 with 5:54 to play before Nevada returned to take the lead in The last minute.
Boise State has already lost only one game since January 22nd.
“We seem to be constantly improving,” Rice said. “It took some strength to win this game. No one went down, they took the lead there at the end and we found a way to get the victory. “
