Boise Police are investigating a pedestrian found dead in the roadway in the area of W. Overland Rd. and S. Atlantic Sts. and looking for additional information. On November 1, 2024, shortly before 9:40 p.m., Boise police officers responded to a call for assistance from a driver in the area who reported that they had run over a person who they believed had already died in the road. The arriving police officers found an injured elderly man with serious and fatal injuries. Upon further investigation, officers learned that several drivers saw what they believed to be an object in the roadway and were able to swerve off the road, but some drivers were unable to and evidence indicated the victim was run over several times. Officers quickly secured the scene and closed Overland Rd. between Latah St. and Owyhee St. for a few hours. Detectives from the BPD Criminal Investigations Division and the Crash Reconstruction Team responded to investigate the incident. Investigators interviewed several drivers and witnesses at the scene. BPD Victim Witness Coordinators and our partners from the Trauma Intervention Program of Treasure Valley (TIP) were also called to the scene to assist. The identity of the victim is not known at this time. Once identified, the Ada County Coroner will release the identity of the victim pending notification of next of kin.
This investigation is active and ongoing. Detectives are asking any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to contact Ada County dispatch at 208-377-6790.
