Two people were rescued from the US coastal security about 100 miles from the Wilmington coast on Tuesday, according to a message.
The two men, unable to keep up with the floods, activated their emergency equipment on the 32-meter sinking sailboat. He sent a disaster signal to the area’s command center.
“The regional five command center coordinates the rescue operation by directing the start of the C-130 Hercules and the MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter by Air Station Elizabeth City,” US Coast Guard said.
The helicopter picked up the two men and carried the men back to the shore, where the Wilmington Rescue Army, North Carolina – the Harrelson Center provided dry clothing for them.
“This rescue emphasizes the critical importance of properly registered communication equipment,” says Lieutenant Shena Bannon, coordinator of the Mission to Search and Rescue of the District Five. “I cannot emphasize how important it is for all sailors to register their communication equipment to improve water safety.”
The two men were unharmed, but their sailboat, called Walrus, sank and left in the sea.
