January 2025 is an anomaly in Talahasi. The icy covered the streets, the snow covered the city, the business closed, and the drivers looked even less competent than a usual (really impressive feat). Our community collectively experiences “Blizzard of 2025”
At the end of the same week, I was invited to tour the snow-capped region from a unique point of view-above.

Whether this is Named lines in Peru or Quincy AirportEverything looks different from above. Air views have a certain magic. I have always been captured by flying. As a child, I practically lived at the Atlanta Airport and on planes. My father lived in Texas, my mother in Alabama, and until the age of eight they let me fly alone. At the back and back I went, picking up enough kilometers for a Delta frequent flyer card by 10 years.

I loved the airport – newspapers, hot dogs, the common buzz. And the departure from Atlanta and the last descent to Houston at night? For themselves in the 1980s, these were some of the best views on the planet.
Ideally these views were paired with the blasting of my Walkman Iron Maiden’s ‘Aces High’ For take -off (a song about the Royal Air Force in the battle for World War II) and Pink Floyd for landing.

In fact, everyone had take -off and landing of hymns, growing.

My father was also a pilot flying Cessna 172 and PA 28 in the 60s and 70s. He was joking that he just followed the interstate when his instruments did not cooperate. This is stunning how far the aviation technology has reached. Within my life, we have switched from almost no computer components to fully integrated, high -tech tools (purpose at altitude!).
The pilot who invited me to the airbag of the landscape after Blizzard Jason GonzalezElite lawyer Lawson Huck Gonzalez, PLLCand a pilot extraordinar. We flew to his Cirrus SR22, an airplane equipped with avant -garde applications and tools and Starlink’s connection to catch the epic basketball season of Florida Gators.
Jason uses Foreflight – General AviationApplication apartment with excellent tools that I witnessed first -hand while we were touring the region. They also made a tool for military aviators called Military flyerS Several other impressive companies in the aviation space are based here in Florida, including Aviation Mobile Apps, which develop applications for both flights and the Ministry of Defense. Based in Cape Canaveral, they offer a set of planning applications before flight, time analysis, APREFLIGHTONDER features (What do we do – Aviation Mobile Apps, LLC).
I asked Jason about the Foreflight app to better understand his capabilities.

“Using the Foreflight app on my iPhone, I can create and submit a flight plan for about 20 seconds as I download to the airport. As I enter the plane minutes later, the air traffic control will now send me an email approving the flight plan, which I then upload to the plane via Bluetooth. The autopilot flies the aircraft along the phlagautopillot, a main autonomous vehicle. “

According to a Robb report, Florida boasts over 14,000 private aircraft. Like elections and college football, Florida reigns supreme in this area (along with Texas and California). The great weather and the abundance of airports are probably the main factors. Florida also offers Over 140 airports ready for useS
Here, in Talahasi, the aviation company Flightline was founded in 1982 and provides services and sales of aircraft for the common aviation community. They sell and serve Piper and Kodiak aircraft.

Florida is clear to take off, with Aviation Tech providing a more festive and more enjoyable experience for aircraft enthusiasts across the country.
Speaking of safety, you may notice in my father’s picture from his plane that he was carrying a parachute. The idea is that he could pop out into the worst scenario where the plane sticks.
Today, the Cirrus SR22 has a built -in parachute with an entire plane, so you do not need to jump in case of emergency, which is a definite improvement.
Thanks to the technology, the days of interference are also long behind us.
This is for today. Fasten the seat belt and place your table for boards up as this column enters for a hard belt on the land, a cry of Dad.
Thank you for allowing me to mark all over the world with dozens of flights as a child.
Also, thank you, Jason, for the opportunity to fly Ace high over our country during the blizzard in 2025.
