BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – A Birmingham man has pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm, according to the US Attorney’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Tradaryl Boykins, 32, of Birmingham, pleaded guilty to a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Court documents say the charge stems from an incident when authorities say Boykins led Homewood police officers on a chase from Homewood to downtown Birmingham.
The pursuit ended when police said Boykins crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of 18th Street North and 15th Avenue North.
The driver and passenger of the vehicle suffered multiple injuries and were taken to an area hospital in serious condition.
Boykins was arrested after searching the vehicle when officers found a loaded Glock 23 handgun in the driver’s side floor.
Federal authorities say Boykins cannot possess a firearm because of a previous felony conviction.
