Birmingham man killed in collision in Armagh – Irish Post

A BIRMINGHAM man has died after being involved in a collision in Co. Armagh.

Anthony Atkins, also known as ‘The Biscuit’, died following the accident in Crossmaglen at around midnight on Friday 1 October.

The 36-year-old, who is originally from Birmingham in the West Midlands, had lived in Crossmaglen, where he had family, for several years.

A post mortem found he was “lying in the road when he was hit by a car shortly after midnight on Friday night into Saturday morning”, the PSNI confirmed.

“The driver of the car remained at the scene and is assisting with the investigation,” they added.

Detective Inspector Michael Winters of the PSNI said: “Firstly I would like to express my condolences to Anthony’s family and friends at this terrible time.

“To complete a full investigation on their behalf, I will continue to appeal to anyone who was traveling along Cullaville Road on Friday night/early Saturday morning at the time of the collision and who saw anything or captured dash cam footage which you can help us with our inquiries to contact the collision investigation department on 101 quoting reference number 2078 01/11/24.

“I would also ask anyone who met Anthony earlier on Friday who can help us trace his movements throughout the evening to get in touch.”

Mr Atkins will be repatriated to England with the support of the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust,

His friends and family have started a fundraising page to help with funeral costs and his headstone.

Organizer Laura Davies said “any donations made will go towards the cost of a headstone and give Anthony what he deserves”.
