Birmingham man gets 10 years in prison for gun possession, intent to distribute fentanyl – Alabama news anchor

A Birmingham man has been sentenced on gun and drug charges.

Damon Deonte Wade, 24, received 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl.

U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Special Agent in Charge Marcus Watson made the announcement Wednesday.

According to the plea agreement, on April 11, 2023, Birmingham police officers stopped a vehicle for a tinted windshield.

Authorities said Wade was driving.

Officers saw drugs, drug paraphernalia and firearms.

Authorities said officers searched the vehicle and found two digital scales, methamphetamine, fentanyl, a Mac-47, a Glock 10 mm extended magazine and an AK-47 magazine.
