Birmingham, Ala. – The city of Birmingham has announced the choice of the Center for Care for the Faith of the Chapel and Urban Alchemy to lead its pilot program for a safe sleep to support the chronically unable residents of the city. This initiative, part of the Home for All program, will provide micro-codes and comprehensive services to address the challenges of poverty, mental illness, addiction and homelessness.
“It will be changing life for many of our inhabitants of non -smoking,” said Birmingham Mayor Randal L. Woodfin. “These partners have a proven record for support for UNHOUSED residents and helps them to go on the way to home sustainable property. Everyone deserves a safe place to sleep and a safe place to call. To happen to those who need it.”
The Faith Chapel Care Center, located in the city center, will receive $ 1.19 million to operate up to $ 15 microsperies. Currently, the Center serves as a center for people who experience homelessness, offer medical services, showers, laundry and more. As part of the initiative, it will expand its services to include the scope, management of cases, consulting and training of skills.
Urban Alchemy will receive $ 1.5 million to control up to $ 60 microsarious on two sites. Non -profit organization, known for creating career paths for ex -persons deprived of prisoners, aims to create a WELLNESS VILLAGE model that provides a safe, service -rich environment. Their services will include coordination of care, support groups and transportation groups for non -nezeki citizens.
“This is our opportunity as a city to demonstrate how important all our residents are everywhere in the whole spectrum,” says Dr. Megan Veneb-Thomas, Director of Community Development. “Our most vulnerable residents in the living space are those who experience homelessness. This program allows us to meet people where they are and provide the services needed for a healthy, viable and sustainable home in the long run.”
The city cooperates with a pallet shelter to create private, lockable bedroom units equipped with heating, cooling and desk. These microphones will be assembled in safe, private communities.
The next phase involves the safety of the microsumid sites. The location of the center of Faith Chapel will host his shelters, while the space for Urban Alchemy shelters is finalized. Once identified, the location will be submitted to the Municipal Council for approval.
The home for all is part of the broader vision of Birmingham to provide housing opportunities to all residents, with several affordable home projects and maintenance programs. The city has invested in facilities such as Firehouse Shelter and Stain Alabama Way Station and allows more than $ 800,000 federal grants annually to support emergency houses and homeless services.
