BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – A Birmingham city councilman was arrested early Nov. 3 and charged with DUI in Creola Township, Mobile County.
Jonathan Tremaine (JT) Moore was found passed out in a vehicle owned by the city of Birmingham on I-65 north at mile marker 20, according to Chief Shane Stringer.
Stringer said police received a call about a possible drunk driver who was driving slowly and making a turn. When they found Moore, he was in his car parked on the side of the road.
Stringer said officers had to open the door to wake Moore up and when they spoke to him they smelled alcohol.
According to Stringer, Moore admitted to drinking. There were no other people in the car and there were no reports of injuries.
Moore was taken to the Metro Mobile Jail, where he locked himself up.
Moore represents Ward 4 in Birmingham. He also chairs both the Education Committee and the Housing Policy Committee and serves on the Public Works and Improvement Committee and the Economic Development and Tourism Committee.
We have contacted Moore and Birmingham City Council’s office for a statement.
