Birmingham Blue Hose Tournament Final – Presbyterian College

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – The Presbyterian College women’s tennis team (0-4) wrapped up the Alabama tournament on Sunday afternoon with a loss to the Samford Bulldogs (3-1). Valentina de Sousa and Madison Dennett earned their first singles win of the spring season, but the Bulldogs walked away with a 5-2 victory on their home courts.

DOUBLE

The Bulldogs took the first point of the day after winning their doubles matches at positions No. 2 and 3. The No. 1 doubles contest was left open as Samford led 5-2.

UNEMPLOYED

Samford won the first three singles points, winning in straight sets at Nos. 1, 2 and 3. De Sousa grabbed a point for the Blue Hose after defeating Samford’s Meredith Taylor 6-4, 6-2. Mary Ellen Longmire put up a good fight against Bulldog’s Grace Keller, but ultimately fell 7-6 (8-6), 6-0. The day closed with Dennett’s match at the No. 5 position against Samford’s Libby Blair, where Dennett was able to earn another point for the Blue Hose, winning 4-6, 6-2, 10-8.
