A YouTube documentary produced by international filmmaker Aaron Singh titled This Town Eats People Alive: The Most Dangerous Place in Alabama, America: The Dirty South was released on Monday.
“The reason I came to Alabama is because it’s one of the most murderous states along with Mississippi in America,” Singh said in part of the documentary.
Singh focuses on the culture found on the streets of Birmingham. Taking viewers to some of the most dangerous neighborhoods where violence is rife.
“You’ve probably walked past a murderer and you don’t even know it.”
The documentary is set to show a place no stranger to rough streets and high crime, while getting close to gang members and locals to show people what it’s really like to live in a place where danger is just right around the corner.
Ny’quan Lollar, the suspect charged in connection with Jamarcus McIntyre’s murder, and Damien McDaniel, the suspect charged in the Five Points South mass shooting, appear in the documentary.
“(Expletive) went to do the same thing to you, so why not do it to them? Why show them compassion when these people haven’t left, you’re not being shown compassion,” McDaniel said in the documentary. “They won’t spare me if their son is dead, and they come to court, they won’t spare me in a (expletive) courtroom. They want my (expletive) slaughtered.’
