The developing gas stations chain has applied for a permit in the Leon County Government on Friday, but the submission is only the first step in the process, according to Leon County Commissioner Christian Caban.
He said that before BUC-EE could be built, they had to review the site’s plan, meet with technical experts and carry out environmental examinations.
“They just filed their permission, which is the first tangible step in receiving this project to be implemented. But they still have to develop the problem with the signs regulation, “Caban said.

Despite the obstacles that BUC-EE still has to pass to settle in the county, Caban said it was excited about the prospect of 200 well-paid jobs with advantages, including some of the six digits.
He said BUC-EE will also act as a grocery store for the area and will bring out tourists from I-10 to Leon County. This means gas tax, sales tax and property tax.
As with any development, Caban realizes that there will be mixed reviews.
“If they were against buc’ees, they probably weren’t in Buc-Ee, right? [It] It’s not just a gas station and it’s a job. If you look at the Leon County area I represent, it’s the need for good high -paying jobs. He needs grocery stores, “he said.
Building BUC-EE does not come without stumbling blocks. Kaban said the signs that the company usually uses do not meet the current regulations of Leon County.
But he believes that the company and the administration of the county can reach an agreement.
If all goes well, BUC-EE will not need to return to the Leon County Commission. As the future construction site is beyond the boundaries of the city, the Talahasi City Commission is not involved.
