Baton Rouge police arrest a teenager accused of killing a 1-year-old baby-Aol

Baton Rouge, La. (BRPRoud)-Police Department of Baton Rouge arrests a teenager accused of suffocating and killing her 1-year-old baby.

The 17 -year -old Tiladja Halbert was arrested on Monday, September 16, and was booked at the parish prison in East Baton Rouge. She has been accused of attempting first -degree murder.

Employees responded around 7:43 pm on September 16 on Brady Street in connection with a request for public aid. According to a statement of arrest, BRPD said an adviser at the Collegiate of Baton Rouge Charter School has requested a check on Hulbert’s well -being.

During an interview, Hulbert reports that she has made a “statement about the suffocation of the victim, her child, of emotion.” According to the declaration, about 1:30 am on September 14, two witnesses said they had seen Hulls tried to suffocate their baby with a pillow.

The statement said one of the witnesses “saw the victim’s eyes rotate back and panting her for air.” The witness took the baby from Kalbert and put her in his room.

During another interview, Hulbert said she did not use a pillow, but she positioned her hand over the baby’s face for two to three seconds. According to the declaration, Hulbert said, “She realized that it was an attempt to suffocate and that she was sorry and would not do it next time.”

Hulbert showed his hand on the baby’s nose and mouth. According to the declaration, she said she had blackened “because of an emotional phone conversation with her girlfriend.”
