Baton Rouge animal rescue rehomes 17 North Carolina cats after shelters flood – AOL

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPRUD) — An animal rescue clinic in Baton Rouge is taking in cats rescued from flooded shelters in North Carolina.

According to a release, the Rescue Alliance will receive 17 cats that were rescued from shelters that were flooded in Hendersonville, North Carolina. The shelters were damaged due to a dam break on Lake Lure. Animals were displaced by the flood and in danger as the water rose.

Once the cats arrive at Rescue Alliance, they will receive the necessary medical treatment, shelter and support.

The Rescue Alliance is asking for the community’s help to give pets the essentials they need to recover.

“Our team is ready to welcome these animals and provide them with safety and care during this traumatic time,” said Jonathan Enrique, Director. “This emergency transport would not have been possible without the coordinated efforts of shelters and rescues across the region, and we are deeply grateful.”
