Ashley Green, a graduate of the Florida State University, said her son Bryson, a kindergarten at John G. Riley Primary School, has always dreamed of his future.

“I would love to visit Florida State, but I don’t press it. I really do know that college is an option for him,” Green told the Talahassi Democrat.

Well, this option is now covered.

Green and five other parents were sitting at the Riley Primary School library on Thursday, under the impression that their children were awarded a student of the month. But it was much more bigger than that.

Shannon Smith is managing director at the Moore Agency, the marketing and communication firm, which accepted the school in 2020.

“College education is changing life, so I decided to ask our sponsors for a classroom to join me in providing scholarships to a student from any classroom in kindergarten,” Smith said.

For the first time, the participants in the Tallahassee Class Room Classroom donated six prepaid scholarships in Florida at kindergartens at school.

The students were selected by school managers based on financial needs, academics and teachers nominations.

“It really takes a village to change the life of the child and this will not happen without your support,” said Chief Rocky Hannah to parents, teachers and donors.

The life -changing event comes as a combined effort to help break the poverty cycle in the life of students in the school, which sits at the center of the most, the state zip code.

“We have cultivated a culture of high expectations, innovations and unwavering belief in our students and have built this environment to promote strong partnerships with our community partners,” said director Morris Stoks.

Scholarships will cover 30 college loans at each school of their choice, which means that their first year will be covered. In addition, students will be appointed a mentor to direct them on his academic journey.

The children did not really get what it was about the whole bustle. They just smiled and said “thank you” when they received their scholarships.

But their parents knew what it meant.

“I’m glad his first year was covered and I appreciate it. It was so generous by everyone,” Green said.

The donations were made possible with the support of Carrol and Company CPA, Kessler Construction, Millcreek Financial, Moore, the Mullin family and the Sparkle boutique.

Students who have received scholarships are:

  • Alana Manning
  • Gael Alberto Meja
  • Jamir Johnson
  • Bryson Lee
  • Laila Robinson
  • Taylor Robinson
