Schools came together on 23 October for the South Ayrshire Festival of Learning, supported by HP, AMD, the Digital Schools Awards and Clickview.
The festival was held at Ayr Academy and 57 schools received the Digital Schools Award for their efforts to embrace new ways of learning.
Dr Catherine Jewitt, Digital Schools Awards validator and keynote speaker at the event, said the program provides a framework for integrating digital skills into the curriculum.
The award is judged on five criteria – leadership and vision, use of digital technology to deliver the curriculum, school culture, professional development and resources and infrastructure.
She said: “Achieving the award helps to boost confidence and improve digital competences in schools.
“A major challenge we face in Scottish schools is the decline in learners studying computer science and digital technology.
“In Scotland, only 16 per cent of computer science students are girls and there is a decline in teaching staff.
“The Digital Schools Awards provide a credible solution to tackling the national digital skills shortage.”
