The 32nd annual Best of the West Awards Dinner was held Thursday, Oct. 24, at the Desert Diamond Arena to honor the West Valley’s best leaders, organizations and programs.
Westmarc, the regional group that has representation from all West Valley cities, recognized finalists in the categories of Economic Driver, Emerging Leader, Excellence in Education and Workforce Development, Excellence in Innovation and Improving Quality of Life.
Economical engine: Village in Prasada
Emerging Leader: Jordan Dodward, Arizona State
Excellence in Education and Workforce Development: Buckeye Union High School District – Career and Technical Education
Excellence in Innovation: Gaucho Security Operations Center, Glendale Community College
Improving the quality of life: Valleywise Health First Episode Center – Avondale
In addition, the WESTMARC Board of Directors recognizes individuals and projects that inspire leadership and develop the West Valley. This year the WESTMARC Board of Directors honored:
- Dr. Randy Gibb, Grand Canyon University – Inspiration in Leadership Award
- West Valley Forward, Arizona State University – Regional Progress Award
- Janin Yerkovich, city of surprise – President’s Choice Award
