Avelo celebrates the 2nd anniversary of Wilmington flights – 1150 h/101.7FM WDEL

Avelo Airlines has recently reached a cornerstone that is not visible at Wilmington Airport this century as they enter their third year of service to the Delaware airline passengers.

Avelo took off on his first flight from Wilmington to Orlando on February 1, 2023, and despite the different amounts of changes to the route, he reached a mandate of a service that is not visible from previous carriers, including Frontier, Delta and Shuttle America.

According to Avelo, they have served over 530,000 units over 3800 flights in the first two years.

Currently, Avelo is flying to Atlanta (2x per week); Concord, North Carolina (2x); Dayton Beach, Florida (2x); Fort Lauderdale, Florida (2x); Fort Myers, Florida (3x); Likeland, Florida (2x); Orlando, Florida (4x); San Juan, Puerto Rico (2x); Sarasota, Florida (2x); Tampa, Florida (2x); West Palm Beach, Florida (2x);

The service to Wilmington, North Carolina restarts on April 3, while direct flights to myrtle Beach and Nashville are intended to resume on May 1 as part of their seasonal approach to flights, with some of the Florida destinations reduced or eliminated in the summer.

Avelo manages several international fields, including to the Montego, Jamaica and Cancun Bay, Mexico from their Hartford Center, Connecticut, but did not have international Wilmington duels.

Avelo Airlines CEO and founder Andrew Levi praised the cornerstone as they tried to push Wilmington as an alternative to the Philadelphia International Airport.

“In February 2023, we sought to make the air trip more accessible, faster and easier for travelers in the Philadelphia area. We have done just that in the last two years. We transformed ILG from a non -commercial airport into a life gateway to 14 non -stop destinations covering five states and Puerto Rico, and made it with the leading industry reliability. We are grateful for the positive reception that the region congratulates us and we expect prolonged growth next year. “

Avelo is scheduled to hold a pair of flights to/from New Orleans around Super Bowl this weekend, although the regular trip to The Big Easy is only available by New Havectic, Connecticut.

When Avelo started in February 2023, Delaware was the only country in the country without a regular, commercial airline, with most cases having to use Philadelphia, BaltImore/Washington, Salisbury or Newark, New Jersey for flights.

Getting to the second anniversary turned out to be elusive for Frontier, which began in July 2013, but gave up flights in April 2015. They returned for another 16 months in 2021-22, ending 8 months before Avello entered.

Delta also had a series of flights to their Atlanta center for 15 months in 2006-07.

Previously, you had to go back to Shuttle America, which flew from 1998-2000 to similar small airports up and down the east coast, but you couldn’t do it for 24 months.

During this recent running of the Avelo upgrades, the terminal and parking facilities at Wilmington Airport, which is owned by the Delaware and Bay Art River, were made.
