Avelo Airlines hits a milestone to which no other airline has reached at Wilmington Airport – Delaware First Media

Avelo Airlines begins its third year of service at Wilmington Airport.

The airline celebrated two years of service at the airport on Saturday.

The Delaware River and authority runs the airport, and its public information employee Jim Salmon says Avello has done what no other airline has done at Wilmington Airport.

“This is really a remarkable occasion,” Salmon said. “This is the most long thing that the airline’s commercial service remains in the facility to serve customers in the Delaware Valley. We are really excited about it. They have had a huge amount of success.”

Salmon notes that Avelo has expanded its service since its first flight in 2023, which went to Orlando to 14 destinations. The airline has completed over 3800 flights since it was in the first state.

It also praises Avelo for its innovation, which included the addition of pop-ups to the New Orleans-host of the Super Bowl-so that Eagles fans can make the trip.

Salmon says Avelo plans to return more destinations this year.

“They will soon restore Nashville, Myrtle Beach, who returns seasonally. So many exciting things happen at the airport of Wilmington, not to mention the expansion that is currently being held there at our terminal facility,” Salmon said.

This expansion will be completed in September and follows the addition of another parking lot in October, increasing the parking capacity to just over 1320 seats.
