Athletics in Nevada launched the first annual Package Pack Food Drive – Nevada today

Athletics in Nevada are proud to introduce the first annual Pantry Food Drive package, which takes place on February 10-14. This initiative is a joint effort between the staff and the campus community to support package provisions, the University of Nevada Renault’s Food in Campus. Packaging provisions play a decisive role in dealing with food uncertainty by providing free access to basic foods and hygiene items for students, employees and teachers in need.

Nutritional insecurity is a reality for many students, even at the highest university. While some secure scholarships and financial assistance, training and life costs may remain significant obstacles. Athletics in Nevada committed to shed light on this issue and take action to support those affected.

“Nutritional uncertainty is a serious problem for our university community,” said the University of Nevada, Renault Stephanie’s Athletic Director. “We want to do our role to support these students in need. A packet of closet is something that our athletics is excited about – we look forward to using our platform to increase awareness of packaging provisions and collect food and supply. “

Through the Pack the Pantry, Nevada Athletics mobilizes staff, students and donors to have a significant impact. The athletes are a large segment of campus and with the incredible support they receive from students and the community of athletic events, as an opportunity to return. This initiative strengthens the link between athletics in Nevada and the campus community, ensuring that no academic or athletic journey of a student is hindered by nutritional uncertainty.

Building a tradition of giving

Nevada Athletic’s vision is to turn the packet of the closet annual tradition, increasing its scope and impact every year. Transparency will be key – they will share donation amounts and participation indicators to show the collective impact. Future plans include competitions throughout the campus and partnerships to expand this initiative in the biggest nutritional pursuit at the University of Nevada.

“This is more than a simple storage – this is a statement that we are a package united in support of each other,” says Colin Bernard, Assistant Director of Development, annual giving, for athletics in Nevada. “We invite our entire community to participate and help create the Foundation for a lasting heritage of giving.”

Join to make a difference. Together, the community can pack the closet and support those who need the most.
