The Athletic released their grades for each member of the Vancouver Canucks’ offensive line for the month of October.
As we turn the page to November and the second month of the 2024-25 National Hockey League season, it’s time to reflect on how the Vancouver Canucks performed in October.
In the month of October, the Vancouver Canucks went 4-2-3 in nine games, good enough for third in the Pacific Division and seventh in the Western Conference. In those nine games, the Canucks managed to score 27 goals while allowing 31.
In an article for The Athletic on Thursday, Harman Dayal and Thomas Drance looked at the performance of the Vancouver Canucks’ forward group and graded each player based on how they played.
Brock Boeser, who has nine points in nine games to start the season, and Conor Garland, both received “A” grades from Dayal and Drance.
Playing on Miller’s wing in the top line role, Boeser held his own defensively. He also successfully built on his two-way improvement and improved playmaking ability and maintained his level from last season through the first month of the key contract year,” Dayal and Drance said.
After a rough start to the 2024-25 season, Elias Petersson received the lowest grade from Thomas Drance and Harman Dayal, which was a D-. The two say the hype surrounding his struggles will only get louder if he drags out and that his velocity and strikeout rate are down compared to the 2023-24 campaign, adding that he doesn’t look good physically.
Let’s take a look at Dayal and Drance’s full list with their evaluations of the Vancouver Canucks forwards:
Connor Garland: A
Brock Boeser: A
JT Miller: B+
Teddy Bluger: B+
Kiefer Sherwood: B+
Nils Hoaglander: b
Danton Heinen: b
Pius Suter: b
Daniel Spring: B-
