Phoenix – two people were killed in a plane crash at South Arizona Airport on Wednesday morning, authorities said.
Two small planes, each carrying two people, collided in the middle over Marana’s regional airport around 8:25, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
One plane landed unobstructed and the other struck the land near the track and lit, the National Transport Safety Council (NTSB) said on the basis of preliminary information before its investigators arrived.
Marana’s police department confirmed two deaths in social media publication, but did not provide additional details.
FAA and NTSB are investigating the crash, which was the second fatal incident at Arizona Airport this month. On February 10, the pilot on a private jet owned by Mötley Crüe singer Vince Neal was killed in a collision at the Scotsdale airport track.
What kind of planes did Maran’s plane crash participated?
The crash included Cessna 172s and Lancair 360 MK II, according to NTSB. The Lancair 360 aircraft were originally launched as kits that are no longer in manufacture.
The Marana Regional Airport, which is owned by the city of Marana, has two intersecting tracks but operates without an air traffic control tower.
A multimillion-dollar project was currently underway to build a tower, but delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic was pushed back. Tens of thousands of flights arrive and leave every year from General Aviation Airport, which is located about 30 minutes northwest of Tuson on Avra Valley Road.
Other recent American planes
The US aviation industry is trying from a recent string of deadly disasters.
It began when a commercial jetlin and an army helicopter collided near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. This was followed by the crash of a Medical Transport Airplane in Philadelphia and a small travel plane in Western Alaska.
