Ashton Jeanty, Maddux Madsen help No. 15 Boise State to beat San Diego State 56-24 – The San Antonio Sports Star

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Ashton Janty ran for 149 yards and two touchdowns, Maddux Madsen threw for 307 yards and four scores — both career bests — and No. 15 Boise State beat San Diego State 56-24 on Friday night for his sixth straight win.

Jeanty had his eighth straight 100-yard game to break the school record set by Jay Ajayai in 2014. The star struggled in the first half with 37 yards on 15 carries before rushing for 112 yards in the third quarter and staying outside the fourth.

Madsen completed 24 of 32 passes without an interception for the Broncos (7-1, 4-0 Mountain West).

After Boise State scored on its first two possessions, A’Marion McCoy returned an interception 35 yards for a touchdown to make it 21-0 late in the first quarter. The Broncos made it three straight TD possessions midway through the second.

The Broncos’ lone loss was a 37-34 setback at current-No. 1 Oregon on September 7. They won three in a row against San Diego State (3-5, 2-1) for the first time.

Latrell Caples led Boise State in receiving with 90 yards and three TDs on six catches. Cameron Kemper had four catches for 50 yards.

Marques Cooper had 94 yards and a TD on 16 carries for San Diego State. Danny O’Neill threw for 155 yards with two TDs and two interceptions.

Food to take home

San Diego State: Despite a disappointing start to the season, the Aztecs still have an opportunity to become bowl eligible.

Boise State: Although Jeanty was the undisputed star of the team, the Broncos showed they were no one-trick pony on offense. Madsen, who commanded an offense that amassed 541 total yards, looked comfortable in the pocket and used his legs to extend plays and pick up critical yards at key times in the first half.
