ARIZONA — The Arizona Cardinals officially promoted Darius Robinson to the active roster this week, although the first-round pick again did not attend Thursday’s practice.
That could put his availability in doubt for the Week 9 game against the Chicago Bears, though the Cardinals still have one more practice before listing players as out, questionable or questionable.
Robinson began the season on injured reserve after suffering a calf injury during preseason practice. He had to miss the first four weeks of the regular season and has logged just one practice since he was able to return.
Robinson recently lost his mother and was also away from the team for the last few games.
“A day with Darius. I know procedurally we made the move that we did, but we’re going to take it day by day. He’s doing well,” Cardinals coach Gannon said when asked about Robinson’s progress earlier this week.
The Cardinals saw the end of Robinson’s 21-day return from the training window for injured reserve, which ended on Oct. 30, requiring Arizona to either place him on the active roster or place him on injured reserve until the end of the season.
It’s not known where Robinson stands in terms of rehabbing his calf injury or dealing with the tragic death of his mother, though the team is adamant that it won’t be rushing to get the Missouri product back in action.
The Cardinals are currently 4-4 and tied for the lead atop the NFC West. Arizona has two home games against the Chicago Bears and New York Jets coming before their bye week in November.
