Arizona Cardinals activate first round pick – Sports Illustrated

ARIZONA — The Arizona Cardinals are poised for a huge push as the halfway mark of the season approaches.

According to team author Darren Urban. the Cardinals activated first-round pick Darius Robinson to the 53-man roster.

The move was not announced by the team, although it did appear in the NFL transaction log on Urban’s Twitter account:

“According to the NFL transaction list, activated DL Darius Robinson to the 53-man roster on Monday from IR.

“There was a vacancy on the roster. No official announcement yet. His IR training window was open until Wednesday, so a move was inevitable.”

As Urban mentioned, the Cardinals’ deadline to place him on the active roster (his 21-day practice window expired on Oct. 30) was quickly approaching, and a decision had to be made this week.

Robinson — a linebacker from Missouri — was the No. 27 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft but has yet to play in a regular-season game after suffering a calf injury during preseason/training camp.

Robinson began the season on injured reserve and was slated to miss at least the first four weeks of the year.

There was no clear timetable for his return, although the unfortunate passing of his mother recently was another hurdle the 23-year-old had to overcome.

The Cardinals have kept Robinson’s status/future plans largely under wraps through media availability in recent weeks.

“We’ll see, yes. Take it day by day with him,” Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon said after the team’s win in Miami this Sunday.

Arizona is currently 4-4 and Robinson’s presence would be a huge boost to a depleted front week whenever his debut comes.

The Mizzou product has made quite an impression in the moments we’ve seen on the field, and another step in the right direction was made with his official activation.
