Ryan Martin pleaded not guilty to two charges when he appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Wednesday, October 30.
He was facing allegations of assault with grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon when he appeared for a private petition hearing.
The 37-year-old was previously arrested in connection with an alleged aggravated assault in the Bank Street area of Irvine on Monday night, October 28.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “At around 8.40pm. on Monday, October 28, 2024, police received a report of a serious assault on a 32-year-old man in the area of Bank Street in Irvine.
“The man was transported to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment.”
“A 37-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
After the appearance of the accused, he was sent for further examination and taken into custody.
He is due back in the dock in the coming days.
