PGA’s most award, the Darryl F Zanuck Award, coincides with the Oscar winner for the best photo in 16 of the last 21 years.
Since 2009, when the Guild and the Academy of Cinema and Sciences of the Academy accepted a preferential vote to select a winner of 10 nominees, they corresponded to all but three times.
DGA is similarly predicting.
In the last 74 years, 66 winners have continued to triumph at the Oscars.
This makes a Baker favorite for the best director in a field, fully made up of nominated for the first time.

The guild also called the best first Rosel Ross Nickel Boys movie.
Ross’s movie, nominated for the best photo of the Oscars, is his story debut.
The Oscar vote begins on Tuesday.
Emilia Perez of Jacques Answard is the leading nominated nominations, but Netflix’s movie has seen her chances of crater after multiple waves of reverse reaction and dispute.
Another Oscar category also found clarity over the weekend.
On Saturday of Annie Awards, Dreamworks Animation’s the Wild Robot, cleaned with nine awards, including the most good movie.
The wild robot will be the heavy favorite to win the best cartoon at the Academy Awards on March 2.
