Tuesday, a veteran state soldier in Louisiana was arrested on Tuesday, accused of drunk driving and causing an early morning multi -channel crash in Baton Rouge.
Captain Belinda Murphy, 53, was arrested for counting drunk driving first crime, two issues of car negligence cause injury and counting failure of traffic control signals.
She was put on leave after her arrest, according to a statement by State Police in Louisiana.
Around 3:30 Tuesday, Troopers with Troop A investigates a crash with three Planck Road cars near Harding Boulevard.
One of the drivers was identified as Murphy, who did not work at the time and drove Chevrolet Tahoe south along the Planck Road.
At the same time, a marked cruiser of the Baton Rouge and Toyota Prius police station were trying to turn left from Harding Boulevard to Plank Road. Murphy ignored the red light of Planck Road and struck the charger, which in turn struck OP, according to authorities.
Murphy and other drivers were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
State police investigators said Murphy was showing signs of impairment and voluntarily did a toxicology test. The results of the Murphy test are hanging.
Murphy has been working for State Police since 2001. She is currently part of the Special Investigation Department.
