An essential guide to a super spooky Halloween at the University of Birmingham in 2024 – The Tab

Our recommendations for the best Halloween in Brum

An incredibly serious article is required for such a prestigious event of the year. With Broad Street awash in Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders, UoB-related outfits and inmates in standard orange jumpsuits, it’s the full schedule to round off a good Uni of Brum Halloween.

So if you want to spend Halloween empty, drain your bank account and have a good time, here’s how to do it the right way in Birmingham.

Sports night

Tonight will most likely be the biggest, before Halloween of course, with most of the “ah” sports teams getting together for a wild night out (not sure about that).

You might want to get your tickets quick though, as we know more than any other sports night that this is the only non-sporting society people care about too.

Also, since this is a reliable night out and the day before Halloween, be sure to get to the Guild early as this event is sure to sell out FAST.

It’s safe to say I won’t make it past 9am the next day.

Roses

While the stairs may be treacherous and the photo booths are constantly tricking freshers, Rosies is always a “safe” option for Halloween.

With inflatables, CO2 cannons and around 2,000 college students in attendance this Halloween, this might be a good shout for a last minute Halloween night out.

While tickets are sold out, a claimed (don’t hold us to it) 200 seats are open for the club from 9pm. Whether anyone seriously wants to get into Rosies at 9pm is another matter.

Luna Springs

Perfect for jaded people (myself included) who are tired of being shamed at Rosies nightclub, Luna Springs provides a great opportunity for a change.

For the uninitiated freshers, Luna Springs is well known for its fairground-like entertainment and events, this Halloween featuring a maze. This can be great fun for those who want to look edgy this Halloween and not on Broad Street. However, these tickets are a bit more expensive than others in this guide, albeit at £20, but to be honest, Luna Springs is always worth it.

Snobs

A good old classic that recently relocated to Broad Street, Snobs will be a great place to go this Halloween with the amount of drink deals. For those looking to make a cheeky switch from Rosies nightclub, let’s be honest it gets old really fast sometimes, Snobs is a great alternative with loads of different rooms! Known for playing club classics, zero songs, R&B and more, you can mix it up all night long!

With drink deals from £2, it’s suitable for those who have used up their entire student loan and need one last hurrah before calling their parents in a midlife crisis for food. Tickets available here!

Josephine tonight

For Chamberlain girls who are too high class to go to Snobs and Heidi’s, Tonight Josephine brings sophistication this spooky Halloween!

Tonight Josephine is a great cocktail venue, conveniently located next to New Street Station, offering two-for-one cocktails all Halloween night.

For those girls who want to go all out this Halloween, this is the place to go! As the last advance tickets sell out fast, get your tickets here.

Laboratory 11

Adding to the edgy batch that isn’t over summer, Lab 11 is the place for you!

Located in Digbeth, this rave scene is brilliant for those trying to escape Broad Street this Halloween.

With nostalgic songs, R&B and Halloween tunes, this is definitely the place to be this spooky season! The only downside to this is the lack of fast food chips and cheese options nearby, RIP.

Grab your tickets here!

Chirko

For those wishing to stay close to home, Circo brings ‘Halloween Ibiza’ to Selly Oak. Not only is it often a 10-minute walk from people’s homes, but it also means you won’t be paying for expensive Ubers on the 31st, which is a dream. It could be easy for people who missed out on the bigger events in town as tickets are still available!
