After making the most of his time at Boise State, OR discussed what it is for the trip to get here and his plans for the future.
“When I received this invitation to be part of the Chaffe Guild and be introduced – I had no idea that the Chaffe Guild exists,” OR said. “When I saw the invitation, it brought me back to the creation of the scholarship, most of the funds were raised in December 2021 and then until May 2022 and thought about how difficult it was to do. Especially with the legislation now and different opinions now that exist – [it] It helps me remember why I did the things I did and why I will do it again at the same time. “
OR shared that she is disappointed with the lack of support she still has for women in STEM, law and medicine. However, she believes that women are resistant.
“I feel surprised on the basis of where we are right now and it’s disappointing,” OR said. “But I also know that women do not give up and that women have not stopped pursuing their dreams by pursuing their passions and that is what excites me really that every year 48 students receive this scholarship, plus all the other scholarships that exist For women at Boise State. “
OR said that only last week, while shopping for frugality came across a 1947 Boise State Yearbook, with the participation of a completely male engineering club.
“I thought, wow, we didn’t shift as much as I thought we would do it. Because my girlfriends who are in the engineering school, they also say that they are still the only women in these classes, “OR said. “I hope the scholarship can continue to encourage women to be there – both financially and emotionally.”
One of the main goals of Orr with the scholarship was to make it achievable for students.
“When I wrote the scholarship, I just wanted women in places where they were not well represented or did not feel comfortable or safe or asked, and so the provisions I wrote with the scholarship were not so extreme,” OR said. “I want to be very accessible to students. I didn’t put a crazy GPA on it. It is very open to different degrees and I think it is one of the most beautiful parts of the scholarship. “
Thinking back on the night of the Chaffe Guild event, OR admitted that he was nervous and concerned about “proving himself.” While refreshing her lipstick, Or met a woman who asked her if Orp’s parents had been introduced tonight ..

“Everyone was so respectful and grateful at the end of this, but yes, walking was horrifying because I knew I would be misunderstood and it’s just like the definition of women in places where we were not fully represented,” Orp said.
