All 16 North East takeaways awarded one or zero star food hygiene – The Northern Echo

Food hygiene ratings show a number of businesses have been told they need to make improvements over the past few weeks.

The ratings, which are based on hygiene and safety, structural compliance and management confidence, are updated regularly.

In the UK, every food outlet, including convenience stores, restaurants, hospitals and care homes, is given a hygiene rating.

In the North East and North Yorkshire, the majority of takeaways and restaurants continue to receive a rating of three or above.

But there are a number that have been identified as causes for concern that need to make “urgent” or “major” improvements.

What each hygiene rating means

0 – Urgent improvement required
1 – Major improvement needed
2 – Some improvement is needed
3 – Hygienic standards generally satisfactory
4 – Hygiene standards Good
5 – Hygiene standards Very good

We have collated the latest inspection results over the last two months from the ratings published by the Food Standards Agency and can be found here
