Alec Baldwin is suing prosecutors and investigators tied to the growth case – AOL

Actor Alec Baldwin has brought a civil case for malicious prosecutors and civil rights violations in the fatal shooting of a cinematographer on the set of the Western film Growth.

The lawsuit was brought on Thursday to the Santa Fa State District Court, where in July a judge dismissed an unintentional murder against Baldwin at the death of Cinematographer Halina Hatchins.

Baldwin also claims slander in the case, saying that prosecutors and investigators deliberately treated evidence while pursuing the case.

The defendants referred to in the court process include Special Prosecutor Carrie Morrisi and Santa Faced District Prosecutor Mary Karmak-Altus, along with three sheriff investigators of Santa Fe and the Commissarium District Council.

“The defendants have sought to each order for the redemptive men Baldwin about the actions and omissions of others, regardless of the evidence or law,” the lawsuit said. He also says that prosecutors and investigators are aimed at Baldwin for professional or political profit.

Hatchins died shortly after wounding during a rehearsal for the movie “Growth” in October 2021 on a movie ranch on the outskirts of Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Baldwin, the lead actor and co -producer, pointed to Hatchins when he was thrown away, killing Hatchins and wounding director Joel Susa. Baldwin said he pulled the hammer – but not the trigger – and the revolver shoots.

Baldwin’s trial was increased by revelations that the ammunition was brought to the sheriff of Santa Fe in March by a man who said that this could be related to Hatchins’ murder. Prosecutors said they believe the ammunition was not connected and unimportant, while Baldwin’s attorneys claim that investigators “buried” the evidence in a separate folder of cases and submitted a successful dismissal proposal.

Morrisi said she had learned more than a year ago that Baldwin was considering a case.

“In October 2023, the prosecutor’s team became aware that Baldwin intended to bring a backlog,” she told the Associated Press in a text message on Thursday. “We look forward to your day in court.”

Carmack-Altwies and Santa Fe sheriff did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Baldwin’s trial claims that prosecutors should not be given immunity in its official roles.

The Prosecutor General refused to pursue and appeal the dismissal on behalf of the prosecutors by completing the case in December.

Separately, the shooting led to an involuntary sentence for the trial of the test last year against the film leader Hanna Gutierrez-Raid. It serves a maximum sentence of 1 1/2 years in a state penitentiary.

The Baldwin admission claim is also striving for a special prosecutor who initially managed the investigation, while seeking unspecified criminal damage, compensatory damage, lawyer’s fees and interest.

This adds to the dense of court disputes after the trial factory, even when Baldwin returned to comic performances on Saturday Night Live with plans in the works for a family reality TV show with his wife Hilary and seven children.

Hatchins’ parents and younger sister have been judging Baldwin and other rust producers at the New Mexico State Court. An agreement was reached in the case by Hatchins.
