The National Laboratory of Idaho has signed agreements with the State University of Boise to deepen projects for joint research and development that will improve solutions to the challenges of energy and security of the nation, providing energy domination and economic prosperity.
The new strategic understanding of premiere Education and Research Agreements (Super) will encourage cooperation between students, teachers and researchers of INL. They establish a framework for pursuit of innovation in advanced energy and cybersecurity to protect critical infrastructure.
Boise State and Inl will cooperate in these areas of study:
- Advanced materials and production for extreme environments: This includes the study and development of strong, reliable materials used in the production of industrial energy and other applications that can experience difficult conditions such as high temperatures, extreme pressures, radioactivity and corrosive chemicals.
- Cybersecurity: This study applies the technological progress and controls needed to protect the US critical infrastructure against cyberattacks.
“Since the establishment of INL in 1949, we have created and strengthened the cooperation of research with the State University of Boise and the University of Idaho,” said Inl Director John Wagner. “Research in the areas we have identified today is crucial to accelerating the energy, production and technology sectors of our country for the benefit of the American people. These agreements have the potential to increase the impact of INL on these emergency national priorities. “
Five -year agreements use the facilities, capabilities and expertise of universities in the laboratory and Idaho to create impactful results from research and development. Long -time efforts for research and development in fields such as nuclear energy and highly efficient calculations will continue with these improved partnerships.
“Boise State is rapidly growing and improving our research company, especially in those areas that are so critical of Idaho and our nation. We are committed to collaborating with the industry and government partners to train American workers and set up a business success in the global markets, “said Dr. Marlene Tromp, President of Boise State. “This new agreement will lead to incredible new knowledge and will pay dividends for years to come.”
The official memorandum of understanding is between Battelle Energy Alliance, which manages Inl for the US Department of Energy and Boise State University.
