Chestertown-Washington College and BaySide Hoyas will host the Frederick Douglass Day of Recrodment Award Award Ceremony 8 February at 1:00 pm at the Gibson Deacon Theater at the Campus Campus College.
The event begins with a screening of the Emmy Documentary Water Edge: Chesapike’s black watermelon. Following is a panel discussion with the participation of director Alexis Aggi, a professor at the University of Salisbury Emeryta Clara Little, the Manchals at Aquaculture CEO Imani Black, the fifth -generation fishing captain, Mark Castelli and the Museum of Museum’s Chief Museum.
Composer Marlon Sonders will perform selections from his work of Isaac’s music, a music journey, based on Isaac Mason’s slave story.
This year’s recipients of the Frederick Douglas Awards are Reverend James Jones, convening a Coach of Afro -American leaders on the Eastern coast and deputy commander of the National Black Veterans Association; Vincent Legeth, author of The Chesapeake Bay through Ebony Eyes and founder of Blacks of the Chesapeake Foundation; and Saunders, the founder of the hassle -free voice.
