The Scottsdale Scorpions (5-10) put up six runs in the fourth inning, but got it right back in the fifth and couldn’t overcome the deficit in a 10-9 loss to the Surprise Saguaros (10-5). Noah Hall started for the Scorpions and Jett Williams and Drew Gilbert were the only offensive players to represent the Mets.
Jett Williams started in center field and went 1 for 4 at the plate, hitting his first home run of the AFL season. Williams sent the ball 420 feet and it left his club at 106.2 MPH. In addition, he had two outfield assists on the day, cutting down a runner at second and then a runner at home. Drew Gilbert started in left field and went 0 for 2 with a run scored and two strikeouts. Both players have shown recent signs of life over the past few games.
- CF Jett Williams: 1-for-4, R, HR (1), RBI (3), K (.783 OPS)
- LF Drew Gilbert: 0-for-2, R, 2 BB (.788 OPS)
Noah Hall went one inning, allowing two runs on three hits while walking one. The Mets’ pitching prospects didn’t fare particularly well in the Arizona Fall League, but that’s to be expected after a long season.
- RHP Noah Hall (5.40 ERA): 1 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 1 BB (15 of 30 pitches for strikes)
The Scottsdale Scorpions will play the Saguaros again on Saturday at 3:30 PM EDT.
